Basta has taken over Gamla Torget in Uppsala with an establishment consisting of 400 square meters, 140 seats, and a view of the majestic Cathedral. The location offers an unbeatable environment for a Italian dining experience. In true Basta style, the former premises underwent extensive renovations and have been transformed into a place with exceptional character and charm.
Basta is a casual dining restaurant brand, offering great guest experiences in beautifully designed places. With a colorful inspiration from the narrow streets of Amalfi up to the north of Milano, we are proud of our generous food and an authentic Italian hospitality.
The concept is a part of Urban Italian Group (UIG) and we are a family of400 amazing people that keeps growing, serving over 3000 guests daily across our 11 trattorias.

About you and the role
We are seeking a skilled and organised Lunch Chef to prepare and serve our lunch menu in line with company standards and recipes, reporting directly to the Head Chef or Sous Chef. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong organisational abilities, and a proactive approach to ensuring a smooth, efficient lunch service. The Lunch Chef will work to deliver high-quality meals promptly, catering to guests with limited time during their lunch break, while maintaining a professional, welcoming, and consistent dining experience.
This position will start at 75% employment with the potential to increase to 100% in the future, offering an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to grow into a full-time role as the business and service needs expand.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a similar role within a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to work under time constraints
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Key responsibilities as Lunch Chef:
- Prepare & plate the daily lunch menu following the recipes and guidelines provided
by the company. - Manage time efficiently to accommodate guests seeking a quick lunch service.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with the front-of-house team to ensure
seamless service. - Monitor ingredient usage to avoid overproduction or shortages, and provide accurate ordering recommendations to the Head Chef or Sous Chef.
- Ensure workstation cleanliness and proper organisation at the end of the lunch service for the evening Ă la carte team to ensure smooth transition.
- Restock and prepare the necessary items for the following dayâs lunch menu.
These tasks require attention to detail, analytical & time management skills. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment to consistently produce exquisite dishes and create a world class working environment.
